Very Rev. Fr. James Barkett

 Fr. James has been the Interim Pastor of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in Warren since 2008. During his time there he and his family have enjoyed becoming part of the church community as well as the community of Warren, and was the recipient of the 2011 Citizen of the Year Award from the Warren Children’s Services. Fr. James lives in Canfield, OH with his wife Elyse and two sons Michael and Ernie.

 After serving as a parish priest for over fifteen years, Fr. James returned to Ohio and joined the Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center in 2005 as the Director of Faith Based Counseling. Along with working with troubled youth, Fr. James works closely with community and local churches in a collaborative approach to build positive venues for youth while at the detention center and especially when they reenter the community.

 Fr. James is a faculty member for the Ohio Supreme Court Family Law Education, is a member of the Disproportionate Minority Contact steering committee for the State of Ohio. His is certified by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Extramural Research and is a member of the Human Subjects Research Committee at Youngstown State University. Father implemented the first ever statewide Juvenile Faith Based Summit in 2011 which meets every year.
