John Besoiu, Jr., 70, of Mineral Ridge, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 12, 2017. 

Born on March 4, 1946 in the Port of Gibraltar, he was the son of the late John Besoiu, Sr. and Anna Oltean Besoiu.

John graduated from Girard High School in 1964.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy.  Thus, in September of 1965 he enlisted in the Seabees and served during the Vietnam War.  During his service, he received the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

On July 19, 1969, our dad married the love of his life, our mom, Marilyn Sirbu. 

They are former members of Holy Trinity Romanian Orthodox Church in Youngstown and are current members of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in Warren.  He was a member of the Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons of Ohio and the William Farr Lodge No. 672 in Girard, and was a 32 Degree Mason for the Scottish Rite of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, USA in the Youngstown Valley since 1981.

John retired from United Parcel Service (UPS) in 2002 after over 31 years of dedicated service.  In the fall of 2002, he graduated from Trumbull Business College with an Associate of Applied Business and Accounting Degree.

John is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Marilyn; their sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher and Heather of Johnson City, TN, David and Miranda of Solon, OH and Eric and Diana of Cranberry Township, PA; their grandchildren, Tate, Lillian, Olivia and Emma; his brother and sister-in-law, Nicholas and Barbara Besoiu of Liberty Township; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bud and Shelly Sirbu of Indianapolis; and nephews, Phillip Besoiu of New York and Bryan Sirbu and his wife Lydia of Indianapolis.

Family and friends may call Sunday from 2;00 to 4:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Holy Resurrection Romanian Orthodox Church in Warren.

A service will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Church with Fr. James Barkett officiating. Followed by a Military service.
