ESTERO, Fla. — Rebecca Botar, 86, passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, at her residence in Estero, Fla.
She was born Dec. 22, 1931, in Warren, daughter of Andrew and Christina Marta Botar.
Rebecca was employed as an executive secretary for the former General Electric Trumbull Lamp plant for 35 years, retiring in 1982.
She was a member of the Holy Resurrection Romanian Orthodox Church in Warren, where she was active in the Ladies Auxiliary and as secretary of the church council.
Rebecca enjoyed bowling, golf, dining with friends and traveling abroad.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Letitia Botar Hank; brother-in-law, Emil A. Hank; and nephew, Donald Thomas.
She is survived by her three nieces, Kathy Hank Thomas and Nancy Christine Hank, both of Estero, Fla. and Rebecca (David) Hank Bedich, of Carmel, Ind., and their families.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, 533 North Park Ave., Warren, with the Rev. James Barkett officiating. Friends may call 10:30 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest near her parents in Oakwood Cemetery in Warren.
